80 miles in and 26 MPG. Stuck in some construction traffic for a second.

I can relate.

I remember the M113 in my old E55 could do similar on long drives, it just loafed along.
City mpg was closer to 12-14.

Apparently the M3 of the same year gets around 18 because 6 speed. E90M3 has experience

A slushbox can be good for more things than many want to give credit.

ISF gas8 whole heats too. Would have to be s corvette length top gear to get this high with a manual

My MB was only a 5 speed, but lots of very low rpm torque to compensate.
Current DD (E250 Bluetec) is a 7 speed, with as much torque in a 4 cyl twin turbo as the V8. 45 mpg is attainable.

5 liter V8 mileage? Yeah... here are my current stats on my ‘17 5.0 Mustang, 6 speed manual :
That 30.0 MPG was a fluke. However, 27 can usually be had for just going the speed limit on the highway, as long as the ambient air temp is somewhat warm. City mileage can get in the single digits in stop-n-go traffic... but thankfully, I do very little of that.
It is amazing that a 302 cubic inch V8 can get in the 20's, especially with the power they put out nowadays.

I’ve never cracked 30MPG in the ISF, and I’ve done at least 100 LA-SLO 100% freeway trips being fair on the throttle. It’ll creep up to 26-27 for me on a distance of about 170 miles, so I guess if you’re running full tank to empty you could potentially hit 30.
I think my all-time greatest one of these trips involved 12.2MPG....that was a good driving day.

With no traffic we almost hit 27. Might be our most fuel efficient vehicle

Sweet! Those kinda miles don’t make me feel guilty....I can tell from your dash pic you don’t have a 2008. If you’ve got 2012 or newer you scored the awesome suspension, too.
Although they are all the same fast...

I have a 2011 which was the first year of the awesome suspension .

We 2008 owners are in denial and don’t want to hear about it...
Michelin PSS made a huge difference in my car though...much better ride than the broke-ass Falkens that were on it when I bought it in 2013.
